The Evening of Difference is the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Houston Galveston’s annual graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements of our Fellows as they complete their year of service. This special event honors their commitment to improving health and highlights the lasting impact of their community-based projects through poster presentations and speeches about their time as Fellows. In addition, we occasionally honor a Servant Leader of the Year, who exemplifies what servant leadership is and can inspire Fellows to pursue a career dedicated to serving others.

Servant Leader ’25
In 2015, Martin B. Cominsky began a decade of service as the President and CEO of Interfaith Ministries Houston, a United Way agency. After retiring in December 2024, Martin launched a consulting firm to support revenue, organizational, and board growth and development for nonprofit organizations. The “Partners” concept is that Martin will bring together the best nonprofit advisory talent for any organization that is looking to increase their success in reaching their mission.
In his former role at IM Houston, Martin collaborated with Houston’s faith community to feed and care for 4,800 homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston and Galveston County programs; resettled hundreds of refugees from war-torn countries; and fostered youth and community dialogue between and among people of varied religions. IM also operates Volunteer Houston, a Points of Light affiliate, which matches people with their passions at area non-profit organizations with a registry of over 25,000 volunteers. He led a $65 million nonprofit agency with 265 employees.
Previously, Martin served as the Director of the Southwest Region of the Anti-Defamation League, which is headquartered in Houston. Martin was responsible for directing the League’s efforts to combat prejudice, hate, and anti-Semitism in this dynamic region. At ADL, Martin developed the school-focused No Place for Hate® program, which now engages and recognizes more than 300 schools in the region in the effort to create K-12 campuses that emphasize respect for diversity and inclusion.
Martin has a B.A. from the University of Houston in Journalism, graduating with membership in the UH Honors College, and earned his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. He participated in Class XXV of the American Leadership Forum. He is Past Chair of the University of Houston Honors College Advisory Board and served as Vice Chair at the Meals on Wheels Association of Texas. Martin was also named as a Most Admired CEO in 2018 by the Houston Business Journal. He received the Phi Beta Kappa Community Service Award in 2022. Martin is active in the Rotary Club of Houston. He is secretary of the board of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Houston Galveston and gives generously of his time to help individuals and organizations
He is married to Terry and is the proud father of twins.
